Fat as liquid gold in plastic surgery

In some places it is in abundance, in others it is lacking. Fortunately, plastic surgeons know how to work with fat to make it just right. They use liposuction devices to gently remove it from problematic areas, most often from the thighs, abdomen or hips, and move it to where it is needed.

"Recently, we have seen a significantly higher interest from clients. As new techniques are developed, we can achieve really nice results using autologous fat. This also goes hand in hand with the current trend of naturalness," mentioned Pavel Horyna, MD, Chief of Medicom Clinic.

A special category is "nano" fat

This is very rich in stem cells. "This is mechanically processed fat that contains very small fat particles and very many stem cells. Nano fat is therefore not used to add volume, but it has excellent results especially in the field of regeneration and improvement of skin condition, for example, in the treatment of scars after injuries or surgical procedures," added Petros Christodoulou, MD, Emeritus Head of the Plastic Surgery Clinic of Bulovka University Hospital.

Does the procedure have any limits?

Despite the versatility of this method, there are some limitations. The fat to be transferred must be exclusively your own, so it cannot be donated, for example. Therefore, very slim clients may not have enough material for the transfer. It should also be noted that the injected fat retains its properties, except in the form of nano fat, i.e. it responds to changes in weight.
