Give your breasts the attention they deserve

"We perform sonography on women under 40, while mammography is more appropriate for women over 40. Younger women are less likely to have a tumour, but as a precautionary measure we try to exclude as many hidden diseases as possible that would have a major impact on the post-operative condition."
Sonographic examination of the breasts is a common part of the preoperative examination. Medicom Clinic clients have it free of charge as part of the procedure. Doctors recommend regular sonographic breast examinations to women as a preventive measure from the age of 30 to 35. If there is a family history of breast cancer, they should start examinations even earlier, from around 25 years of age. Unfortunately, many women underestimate this prevention. However, it is a painless and reliable method where the results are known almost immediately.
Necessity before breast surgery
Before any breast surgery, whether breast augmentation, breast reduction or breast modelling, a sonographic breast examination is essential. This allows both the client and the surgeon to be sure that it is safe to undergo the procedure. Ultrasound imaging will reveal if there are any pathological changes or deposits in the breast. Most often these are cysts, or fluid-filled cavities, but they do not pose a risk or reason to postpone surgery.
If a finding called a solid deposit is confirmed, a biopsy is necessary. In most cases, benign changes such as fibroadenoma do not prevent plastic surgery. However, in the case of a malignant tumour, cancer or pre-cancerous changes, the lesion must be surgically removed and the aesthetic procedure postponed. It is in the case of these more serious cases that time is of the essence and early diagnosis greatly increases the chance of recovery.
Annual sonographic examination after augmentation
Women who have undergone breast augmentation with implants should keep up with regular annual checkups. In addition to routine prevention, clients are monitored for any shifting, rotation or rupture of the implant or signs of capsulation. Ideally, it is recommended to visit one office, so specialists can compare any changes over time and achieve the most accurate results.
Clients can take advantage of sonography directly at Medicom Clinic in Prague or Brno, where we focus on patients after implant augmentation or other plastic surgeries.
