Deep necklift under general anaesthesia

A deep necklift, or deep plane necklift, is a surgical procedure that focuses on removing loose skin and excess fat in the neck and chin area and accentuating the chin and jawline.

  • More natural and permanent results

    compared to a traditional necklift.

  • Improved neck contour

    and removal of loose skin.

  • Minimal scarring

    due to advanced surgical techniques.

  • Fast recovery

    with minimal complications.

More about the procedure

Deep necklift is performed in the deeper layers of tissue and is ideal for those who want to significantly rejuvenate the neck and achieve a more natural and permanent result compared to a traditional necklift.

Often a deep necklift is combined with a facelift or deep plane facelift for a more pronounced rejuvenation and perfect effect .

For whom is the deep necklift suitable

  • Clients with loose skin on the neck.
  • People with excess fat in the neck and chin area.
  • Clients who want to achieve a more natural and long-lasting result than with a traditional necklift.

Most often, we see clients whose lower jaw edge is no longer sharp, or who have developed a jowl or second chin. The neck and chin area is resistant to diet and exercise, so necklift surgery is often the only solution to these problems, especially if excess skin is visible.

How the procedure works

Preparation before the procedure

As this is a procedure under general anaesthesia, you will need to undergo a full pre-operative examination, which you can have at the MEDICOM Clinic. Two weeks before the surgery, quit or limit smoking. During this time, you should not have any acute or inflammatory diseases.

The course of the procedure

The procedure is usually performed under general anaesthesia. This is because the plastic surgeon works in deeper layers of tissue. The result looks natural, without unnatural tension, and lasts stable for many years. The operation usually takes 1-2 hours.
The surgeon uses a small incision under the chin to tighten the muscles in the middle and sides of the neck. He or she may also reduce enlarged digastric muscles, shrink overgrown submandibular glands, and remove deep fat between the muscles and in the chin area. It will remove enough to allow the neck to retain its natural but more youthful appearance. The surgeon removes excess skin; in younger patients with good skin elasticity, the skin can adapt to the new shape of the neck on its own.

Recovery

After surgery, a compression bandage will be put on to hold the operated tissues in the correct position, minimize swelling and promote healing. You will wear the bandage for 2 weeks. You will remain in the clinic until the second or third day. For at least a week, observe resting mode, do not bend your head downwards and avoid much sideways turning, and keep it upright above the level of your heart to reduce swelling. Return to sport in 4-6 weeks. Most clients return to work and social life in about 2 weeks.

What can the deep necklift be combined with?

Chin Liposuction: To achieve even better results in the neck and chin area, it is often combined with ultrasound skin treatment, which leads to even more firming.
Deep plane facelift: For overall rejuvenation of the face and neck.
Browlift: To lift the eyebrows and rejuvenate the upper face.

Contraindications

Contraindications to deep necklift include pregnancy and breastfeeding, bleeding disorders, diabetes, heart disease, and inflammation in the operated area (including acne).

The course of the procedure

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia to ensure maximum patient comfort.
The surgeon will make small incisions under the chin and possibly behind the ears. Then, using special tools, excess fat is removed and the muscles in the neck area are tightened. The skin is then tightened and the incisions are closed with fine stitches.
A necklift usually takes 1-2 hours. It leaves only small and inconspicuous scars behind the ears and under the chin.

Recovery

After surgery, it is common to develop swelling and bruising, which usually resolves within a few days or weeks. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions regarding wound care and wearing a compression bandage.
Most patients return to normal and social life within 2-3 weeks of surgery.

Enjoying the result

Results are visible after healing and swelling has subsided and are long lasting.

You often wonder

During the necklift, the doctor makes two shorter incisions behind the ears and one small one under the chin. These are relatively hidden places, so the scars after the operation are hardly noticeable, they are invisible to the unbiased observer, especially with proper postoperative scar care - lubrication and pressure massage.

By the end of the second week after the operation, the operated area is free of major swelling and bruising. Recovery is very individual, some patients heal completely after two weeks.
