Laser Therapy of fires and hemangiomas

Are you worried that your baby will one day be unhappy about the dark-colored spot he has on his body? Or are you living with it yourself and looking for the best way to make it disappear? Laser therapy can lighten fires and hemangiomas significantly.

  • Already from 3 years of age

We are one of the few clinics treating even the smallest ones

  • With your child in the office

You can be with your child during outpatient treatment

  • High efficiency

In children, the fire lightens by 75-95%

  • Outpatient treatment

Or gentle general anaesthesia for children as well

In children, fire treatment is most effective

A hemangioma, or "fire", is a dark red-colored flat formation formed by many greatly enlarged veins. It occurs in both children and adults and is treatable at any age. However, the success rate of treatment is higher in children because hemangiomas are more resistant in adulthood. There are only a few clinics in this country that offer treatment for children, and we are one of them. We remove hemangiomas (naevus flammeus) in children as young as 3 years old.

We treat hemangiomas with dye laser

Fires and hemangiomas are formed by dilated blood vessels, so we treat them similarly to common dilated veins. We use a modern pulsed dye laser whose beam acts on the blood vessels but does not damage the skin. It breaks down the blood dye so that it can be gradually absorbed - this makes the haemangioma pale. The veins do not disappear immediately after treatment. The treated area is darkly coloured and the blood dye is absorbed over several weeks.

For adult clients we usually perform the treatment on an outpatient basis, for children we sometimes recommend a gentle general anaesthesia - especially in the case of localised facial flames. However, you may remain in the office with your child during the outpatient procedure. At home, you will then apply the cream recommended by your doctor to the treated area. Avoid the sun and allow approximately three weeks for the healing process.

Repeat the treatment as needed

On average, you will come to our office 5-8 times over a period of 2 months. We will remove one layer of veins with each treatment. In this way, we gradually achieve lightening of the hemangioma, which is individual for each client. It depends on the location of the hemangioma, its extent, form and the age of the client. In children we normally achieve a 75-95% fading.

You often wonder

Studies and client follow-ups have shown that the earlier the treatment is started, the better the results.

Yes. Although the degree of lightening varies from client to client, there is always an improvement.

It is possible to treat the whole affected area at once, but of course it is also possible to treat it in parts.

The laser treatment itself is quick, taking only a few minutes.

The laser pulse is like a pinch, a snap of a rubber band and is repeated many times in succession. Local anaesthesia cannot be used for the procedure. Adult clients usually endure the procedure without much difficulty. For children, we more often use the option of putting them to sleep. In addition, the treated area is cooled after the treatment.
