Who is hip liposuction suitable for?
The procedure is suitable for all those who are unable to lose weight in this area, neither by adjusting their diet nor by regular sports. The suction will help to remove the local fat excess. However, it is not suitable as a means to reduce excess weight overall and is not an alternative to a weight reduction diet.
The result of liposuction depends, among other things, on the quality of the skin - more elastic skin adapts better to changes. However, modern liposuction techniques, such as laser liposuction, stimulate skin tightening and thus allow excellent results even in clients of advanced age.
Liposuction in men and women
Genetic predispositions and hormones are very often among the causes of fat accumulation on the hips in both sexes. Consultation
Our experienced surgeons will advise you whether hip liposuction is the right solution for you. We will first invite you to a consultation, during which the doctor will listen to your wishes, measure the amount of fat in the hip area and analyse the quality of your skin.
If the doctor indicates that the procedure is appropriate for you, he or she will suggest a specific method of liposuction and inform you about the procedure and recovery. After that, you can schedule your surgery together.
Pre-operative examination
If liposuction of the flanks is performed as a separate procedure, then in most cases it is performed under local anaesthesia. This does not require any complex preparation: only a basic blood test is required, which is included in the price of the procedure at MEDICOM Clinic and can be performed on the day of the procedure.
If you intend to combine liposuction of several areas (for example, liposuction of the abdomen, back, thighs or buttocks) in one procedure, then the doctor will probably choose general anaesthesia. In this case, you will have a comprehensive pre-operative examination, during which we will check that your body is healthy and ready for the procedure and subsequent healing at the clinic.
The course of the procedure
Liposuction of the hips is painless. We use an anaesthetic to numb the treatment area. Once it has taken effect, the doctor sucks the fat from the designated and pre-demarcated area using a thin cannula that is connected to a device that develops a vacuum.
In the case of ultrasonic and laser liposuction, a special microcannula with ultrasonic or laser fibers is used to soften the fat before the actual suctioning. Suctioning the fat is then gentler on the skin and the overall healing time is reduced.
Healing time
There are almost no risks involved in liposuction on the flanks. Transient swelling, bruising or reduced sensitivity in the operated area may occur and these are normal phenomena that will subside within a few days to weeks.
In the case of liposuction from the hip area, the postoperative healing and overall recovery is very fast. You can return to normal activities within a few days, but wait 3 to 5 weeks for sports and other more strenuous physical activities. Skip the sauna and solarium for 2 to 3 months.
Compression underwear is an important tool for perfect healing and regaining the ideal figure after liposuction of the hips. This should be worn continuously for the entire healing period, i.e. 3 to 5 weeks.
Aftercare
Massage, especially lymphatic drainage and gentle manual massage, is recommended about 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure. Start rolling a few weeks after the procedure after consulting with your doctor. The procedures reduce swelling, improve circulation and promote healing. Small scars after cannula entry usually heal easily. It is advisable to protect them from the sun, ideally with a cream with a high SPF factor (50+).
The first effects of liposuction on the flanks appear immediately. Initially they are slightly distorted by swelling, but within 3 to 6 months the final result of slimming is achieved.

You often wonder
After liposuction, you will have about 5 millimeters of small scars. They do not heal, they are only covered with a patch. Within one year of treatment , they will completely merge with the skin.
Even after liposuction, it is important to watch your energy intake and expenditure. Metabolism remains the same after the procedure as before. However, if your energy intake is higher, fat will start to be stored preferentially in areas where liposuction was not performed. After liposuction of the hips, fat may be deposited more in the abdomen and so on.
Liposuction will reduce fat cells in the problem area, but a certain number must remain in the area to maintain body symmetry.
Taking a blood thinner is unfortunately a contraindication to the procedure. This medication should not be taken as early as one week before the planned procedure. Thus, it is up to your hematologist to authorize discontinuation of this medication for at least 14 days (one week before and one week after the procedure) without putting you at risk.

After liposuction, it is recommended to limit physical activity for at least 2, but ideally 3 to 5 weeks.
The amount of fat extracted is not determined per kilogram, but per millilitre. It depends on the total weight of the client and the size of the problem area. During the procedure we always try to remove the maximum amount of subcutaneous fat.
During liposuction under local anaesthesia, the problem area is numbed. The client is fully conscious during the procedure and can communicate and cooperate with the doctor. The doctor can position the client well or even stand up to continuously assess the result of the liposuction. In addition, there is no need for hospitalization in the clinic after local anesthesia and the recovery period after the procedure is shorter.
