More about the procedure

Protruding nipples, which point inward instead of outward, are a common breast anomaly caused by a congenital defect. The correction of protruding nipples takes approximately 1 hour and can be performed under general or local anesthesia.

  • Procedure under local or general anaesthesia
  • The nipple surgery takes approximately 1 hour
  • A single operation will permanently solve the problem
  • Significantly contributes to increased self-confidence

Which procedures can be combined with nipple surgery?

Nipple surgery can be combined with several other procedures to improve the appearance and shape of the breasts. The most common combinations include: breast augmentation, reduction mammaplasty or areola reduction.

Who is the procedure suitable for?

Insertion nipple surgery is an effective solution for women who suffer from a congenital defect where the nipples do not protrude from the areola but instead point inward towards the breast. By correcting the nipples, they will gain increased self-confidence and an aesthetic appearance of the breasts.

For whom is the procedure not suitable?

The procedure is not suitable for patients with serious medical conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women. We consider any serious illness or acute inflammatory conditions at or near the nipple site to be a contraindication. Clients are also advised that due to the interruption of part of the milk ducts during the procedure, there is a risk of being unable to breastfeed in the future. Each client should be in good overall physical and mental condition prior to surgery.

The course of the procedure

Consultation

At the initial consultation, you will choose a surgeon of your choice who will evaluate your condition and recommend the appropriate technique for the procedure. We will discuss together how the nipple surgery will be performed, including recovery.
There are minimal risks involved in nipple surgery. Common complications include swelling, bruising and minor bleeding, which usually resolves within a few days. The procedure may affect your ability to breastfeed in the future, so consult your surgeon. More rarely, a poorly healed scar or persistent nipple numbness may occur. It is important to follow the postoperative recommendations carefully.

Preparing for the procedure

If you decide to have surgery, you and your surgeon can arrange a date for the procedure. Basic blood tests are sufficient before the procedure in the case of local anaesthesia, while a comprehensive pre-operative examination is necessary for general anaesthesia.

Procedure

The operation takes approximately 1 hour and is performed under local or general anaesthesia, and in the case of general anaesthesia you will remain in the clinic until the next day.
In nipple nipple surgery, the ligaments that pull the nipple inwards from the breast are severed. The correct position of the nipple is fixed according to the surgeon's practice (for example, with special pins that resemble piercings).

Recovery

After surgery, it is important to follow proper postoperative care. The client should change the dressing every two days and clean the wound with a disinfectant solution. It is necessary to protect the areola from moisture for three weeks. After that, the fixation staples or sutures are removed.
Return to normal activities is rapid. Office work can be resumed as early as the second day after the procedure, but it is advisable to wait at least two weeks for more physical activity to ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of complications. More intense sports and exercises involving the upper body should be postponed until approximately four to six weeks after the procedure, as recommended by your physician.

You often wonder

We consider any serious illness and, of course, acute inflammatory conditions at or near the nipple to be contraindications. We also always warn our clients that due to the interruption of a part of the milk ducts during the procedure, there is a risk of being unable to breastfeed in the future. After the procedure, there may also be a decrease in nipple sensitivity or even numbness.
Of course, each client should be in good physical and mental condition before the surgery and should also undergo a comprehensive pre-operative examination before the procedure.

In nipple tuck surgery, the doctor breaks the connective tissue bands that pull the nipple inward from the breast. This can actually sever some of the milk ducts and the client would then lose the ability to breastfeed in the future because of this. However, this is not the rule and the doctor always tries to ensure that the client is not deprived of the opportunity to breastfeed by the procedure. However, we always warn our clients of the potential risk.
