If you decide to undergo the procedure during the initial consultation, you can also arrange a date with the surgeon for the surgery itself. As the procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, you will need to undergo a general pre-operative examination, which you can have at our clinic.
Procedure
The arm lift is performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately 1 hour. If you combine the arm surgery with another operation, the procedure may take even longer.
The doctor will make an incision at the interface between the inside and back of the arm, thus creating a scar in the least visible place - leading from the arm pit to the elbow. The surgeon will only remove excess skin and subcutaneous tissue to make your arm slimmer and the skin on it firmer. In addition, the absorbable suture will leave you with a very fine scar indeed, which can be refined with laser treatment once healed.
Recovery
As a precaution, the doctor will insert drains for 1 day to prevent seroma (tissue fluid that can accumulate in the wound). At the same time, the doctor prepares the body for the best possible conditions for successful healing.
After the drains are removed, you will wear compression sleeves on your arms for 2 weeks to reduce pain and swelling and to aid your recovery. The rest and overall recovery period lasts 2 to 3 weeks.
